About Irina

Irina S. Batrakova represents individuals and businesses from more than 60 countries in the areas of immigration and business law. Her comprehensive background enables her to provide valuable advice to her clients in planning for their future and in securing their present.

Irina is a native of Russia, who in 1994 was selected to participate in the Future Leaders Exchange (Flex) Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State as part of the Freedom Support Act (FSA) of 1992. She was one of 1,200 students who spent the 1994 academic year in the United States with a goal to enhance understanding and dialogue between the people of the two countries.

Irina graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University, and earned her JD from Lewis and Clark Law School. While at Portland State University, Irina was granted a scholarship from the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) through which she delivered presentations to groups in the Portland area to spread awareness and appreciation of Russian culture.

Irina is committed to giving back to her community. She is involved with the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon Refugee and Immigrant advisory committee, the Russian Chamber of Commerce, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Irina recently launched the Immigration Law Blog where you can read articles on the latest immigration issues. She also shares her views on the upcoming Comprehensive Immigration Reform in El Hispanic News article of September 3, 2009, “Health Care Takes the Spotlight, but Immigration Reform Awaits Its Hour.”
