Steve has more than 35 years of experience as an accomplished business, estate, and trust attorney, working with families, small businesses and corporations on the planning and administration of complex issues. As a leading specialist in the field of estate planning, he has published treatises and articles, conducted presentations, and fielded media interviews on a wide variety of topics including tax laws, trusts, charitable planning, business succession and estate administration.
Passionate about supporting his local community, Steve has served in a variety of volunteer roles with charitable and community organizations including Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington; B’nai B’rith Camp Association; Oregon Jewish Community Foundation; The Nature Conservancy; Portland Jewish Family & Child Service; Jewish Federation of Portland; University of Oregon Foundation Endowment Council and Mittleman Jewish Community Center. He has also provided pro bono local work for a number of charities.
He has earned numerous awards for his contributions to the community, including the Ronald McDonald House Charities Hall of Fame (2010); Oregon State Bar (OSB) President’s Award (1994); Oregon Super Lawyers (2005-2012); Portland Monthly Magazine 5-Star Wealth Manager; Council of Jewish Federation Young Leadership Award; Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) Speaker of the Year; and B’nai B’rith Men’s Camp Association Man of the Year (2012).
Steve has also been an active member of the American and Oregon State Bar throughout this career. He has served in a leadership role for the sections for Estate Planning and Administration, Real Estate and Land Use, Taxation, and the joint OSB/OSCPA committee. Other professional affiliations include the American Society of Certified Public Accountants; OSCPA; Financial Planning Association; Estate Planning Council of Portland; American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; and Multnomah County Probate Advisory Committee.
