New Legal Issues for Same Sex Couples: Navigating Effectively in the Changing Tides

SYK partner Christine Costantino is the featured speaker at an upcoming event, "New Legal Issues for Same Sex Couples: Navigating Effectively in the Changing Tides."

The event is being presented by the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation Professional Advisors Group on October 24 at the Multnomah Athletic Club. The event is sponsored by First Republic Bank, Oregon Angel Fund, Rosenbaum Financial LLC and Brian Suher, Sr. Vice President, RBC Wealth Management.

Christine will discuss how the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in United States v. Windsor, which overturned part of the federal Defense of Marriage Act ("DOMA") defining marriage between one man and one woman as unconstitutional, impacts the rights (and responsibilities) of same sex couples here in Oregon and other states specifically in marriage, divorce, and estate planning on both the state and federal levels.

Christine is committed to helping families and family-owned businesses navigate the complex and emotionally challenging territory of Family Law. Her trademark philosophy — love your children, protect your assets, and preserve your legacy — guides her law practice as she helps clients with a number of legal issues including divorce and dissolution of domestic partnerships; prenuptial and domestic partner agreements; contested custody, child and spousal support issues; grandparents’ rights, contested guardianships and conservatorships, as well as fiduciary litigation.
