We are pleased to announce that three of the firm’s partners, Stephen Kantor, Victoria Blachly, and Jeff Cheyne, have been selected to the 2014 Oregon Super Lawyers list. Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. Attorneys from Samuels Yoelin Kantor LLP have received recognition from Super Lawyers for the past nine years.
Steve is an accomplished business, estate, and trust attorney and educator with more than 30 years of experience in the planning and administration of complex issues; he is a past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House Charities, and a co-founder of the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation.
Victoria is the firm’s first female equity partner, and her practice focuses primarily on fiduciary litigation; she serves on the Governor’s Commission on Senior Services, on the Board of Advisors for VoteERA.org, and has served on the boards for Dress for Success, Oregon Lawyers Against Hunger and Housecall Providers.
Jeff represents individuals and businesses in the areas of estate, tax, business and real estate planning; he is a Portland Tax Forum board member and serves as Treasurer for the Oregon State Bar’s Estate Planning and Estate Administration Section.
Steve and Jeff are both Fellows of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). ACTEC is a nonprofit association of lawyers established in 1949. Its members are elected to the College by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors.
Three additional attorneys have been named to the Oregon Rising Stars list of top Oregon attorneys for 2014, including: Anthony J. Dal Ponte, who specializes in commercial litigation, fiduciary litigation and creditors’ rights; Valerie H. Sasaki, who specializes in taxation and business/corporate law; and Eric J. Wieland, who specializes in estate planning, trust and estate administration and tax planning. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected to this list.
Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.
Congratulations to Steve, Victoria, Jeff, Tony, Valerie and Eric!
