SAMUELS YOELIN KANTOR SEYMOUR & SPINRAD LLP TO MOVE OFFICE DOWNTOWN; Law firm will move to U.S. Bancorp Tower February 1 and shorten firm name to coincide with move

Portland, OR., December 22, 2010 – Samuels Yoelin Kantor Seymour & Spinrad LLP has announced that it is moving its office to downtown Portland’s US Bancorp Tower at 111 SW Fifth Avenue. The firm’s new office will be located on the 38th floor, and the lease commences February 1, 2011. The firm, which was founded in 1927 in downtown Portland and was once located in the Ladd Carriage House, has had an office in Southwest Portland’s John’s Landing area for the last 30 years. The new space, which totals 10,845 square feet, is about one-third larger than the firm’s current space.

“We’re very excited about the firm’s return to downtown Portland,” says the firm’s managing partner, Alan M. Spinrad. “In addition, we’re looking forward to taking on a larger space to accommodate for growth and the hiring of additional attorneys and staff.” The firm currently has 29 employees, including 15 attorneys.

Other key factors involved in the firm’s decision to move include a desire to better accommodate sustainability goals—the downtown location provides easy access to public transit for “green” commuting, and it is within close proximity to clients and other legal and professional service firms that the firm works with on a regular basis.

“We’re also looking forward to being located in the heart of a thriving corporate, retail and restaurant environment,” says Spinrad.

Effective February 1, 2011— and coinciding with the move— the firm is shortening its name from Samuels Yoelin Kantor Seymour & Spinrad LLP to Samuels Yoelin Kantor LLP. The new name reflects the last names of the three longest-serving partners of the firm. “Our new name is easier to say and remember,” says Spinrad. “It also provides better opportunities for branding and marketing the firm. And although the location and the name are new, our focus remains the same: to help businesses and families build, protect, and distribute wealth.”

Jeff Sholian and Joe Vaughan of Pacific Real Estate Partners, Inc. represented the firm and the property on the transaction, respectively. Yost Grube Hall is the architect building out the new space.
