Portland, OR., December 13, 2012 – Samuels Yoelin Kantor LLP announced today that Timothy J. Resch has been appointed the new managing partner for the firm. Mr. Resch, who joined the firm in 1996, is a civil litigator with domestic and international expertise. Mr. Resch will assume his new responsibilities effective January 1, 2013, when the term for current managing partner, Alan M. Spinrad, concludes.

Mr. Spinrad has served as managing partner since January 2009. Mr. Spinrad, who works as an attorney, arbitrator and mediator, will return to working full-time with his clients once his term as managing partner has concluded.

“We are proud to welcome Tim in his new role as managing partner,” said Mr. Spinrad. “His knowledge and experience in employment law, and with business and medical practice issues, make him uniquely suited to lead a firm with such strong ties to entrepreneurs and small, local and family-owned businesses. His extensive experience as a litigator — both locally and when he served as a war crimes prosecutor at The Hague — will be especially helpful in guiding our growing litigation practice.”

Mr. Resch’s practice emphasizes employment law advice and litigation, primarily for small businesses and medical professionals. Mr. Resch also spent nearly five years with the Office of the Prosecutor at the United Nation’s International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslaviain The Hague, where he helped the legal team prepare for trial in the Radovan Karadžić case. Prior to the Karadžić case, he conducted in-court direct examinations in international war crimes trials, and traveled extensively throughout the former Yugoslavia investigating serious violations of international humanitarian law.

Mr. Resch, who grew up in Portland, earned a B.A. from the University of Oregon, and a J.D. from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College. He is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington, and volunteers as a regional judge for the Classroom Law Project.
